A little character dev here. Hope you don't mind.
Monday was neat, wasn't it? That was Sue's first comic. And she's got plenty more where that came from. I think her stuff has a lot of potential (and it's better written then my crap). Hopefully, she'll be back next Monday with the next comic. Which brings into question what the hell I am going to do with the movie reviews. There is an idea that I'm bouncing around of doing five comics a week instead of the three. That may be insane, but it may somehow work out. We'll see how these next few weeks go. So I'll keep bugging Sue to start doing the webcomic thing (I think she really enjoys it, she's just a little shy about her artwork).
I have futher proof that the University of Maryland at College Park is, in fact, EVIL! A few posts ago I mentioned that my good friend Henry Marx was denied employment because of a "hiring freeze" at Maryland (actually, I don't think I mentioned that part of his situation but I'm mentioning it now). He was told that all University of Maryland system schools were in a hiring freeze.
So last Thursday, Hen was talking to one of his friends who works at the University who also just happened to have hired someone a few days prior, but AFTER Hen was told about the now bullshit hiring freeze. Hen was applying for a help desk position for which he was well OVER qualified for so competency wasn't an issue. And even in his second interview, the lady told him that he basically got the job and it was all just a matter of paper work.
The game is definately afoot. Hen called personel and they had no idea they were in a hiring freeze. They're doing an investigation themselves to see what the hell is going on with OIT, the department Hen was appling to.
Now if you're going to blow someone off for a job, at least make it something that they can't follow up on like "we hired someone else" or "you're over over over qualified and we can't afford your jabroni ass" or "we're still interviewing canadates and we'll get back to you" or "stop calling you ignorant sonuvabitch! Can't you figure out we don't like you!" But if you're going to say that the entire Maryland system is in a hiring freeze, you better damn sure make certain that there is in fact a hiring freeze. Dumb asses. My hope is that someone gets fired over this and Hen gets the job and gets the money that would have gone to the fired person. The saga continues.
