September 11, 2001. A day that will live in infamy.
I meant to start a few new rants with today's post de-mystifying Asians in America. But upon waking, I was met with images that I would expect to see in a high budget action film. How shocked I was to discover that these were live images broadcast into my room. Such horror.
For those who have not been touched by the television or radio or online news sites, the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC were attacked today. The two towers of the World Trade Center were hit by hijacked planes. Both towers eventually collapsed. The Pentagon was attacked with a hijacked plane and its helipad as well as Block E was destroyed. No report on the number of casualties at either site, but the numbers are expected to horrify all of us.
My prayers and hopes go to the survivors and the families of those lost in these tragedies. It's shocking to think that innocent civilians were used as Molitov Cocktails to attack their own people. It makes me sick. I've taken this time to write this post because I feel ill and any more television footage may make me puke my brains out.
The point of terror is to strike fear and chaos into the hearts of your enemy. How little our enemy knows the American resolve. We are the only nation to drop nuclear weapons on a foreign enemy who dared to attack our shores. History shows that we show little mercy to those who would take the fight to us. Regardless of how I feel about politics in this nation, I will support the actions of our President to the best of my ability.
If you feel the need to do something, the Red Cross is asking for blood donations. Indeed, they are always asking for blood donations for the blood supply is exceedingly low. But if you have put off donating for a rainy day or something, please call them up and make an appointment. Last I heard, they are taking names because they have so many doners waiting in line. It must be a welcome change for them. But they will still need more. Every pint helps. So if you have the ability, please find a donation center near you. Check out their website.
These are times that try the soul of a Nation. We will survive and we will be stronger for it. This day will burn bright in the souls of all Americans. Let us pray that our actions now will be tempered with wisdom as well as resolve.
