August 26 2001 The saga continues! I promise, we will get out the appartment. There are just a few things that need to be established before the journey begins so please bear with me for a bit. Recently, a really awful thing happened to one of my friends. Now, there are a few different catrgories for awful things. You can have awful things that can hurt you physically and you can have awful things that can hurt you emotionally. The awful thing that happened to my friend was of the second kind. I like those better because you can recover from them. Sometimes awful things that mess with you physically you can't recover from. You know how sometimes things are going so well that you feel almost like you're in a cheesy movie and then all of a sudden every falls to S#17? That's kinda what happened to my friend. For four or five years he was living the dream that is the happy loving relationship. They were even ready for the big M word! And then, nothing. It was almost as if the past four years were gone. Emotionally destroyed would be a good term for how my friend felt. But he's handling it really well. I suppose anyone would feel really good after a bunch of Cluck U wings. And instead of sulking, he's looking forward to what the future holds. A part of his world has died, but that doesn't mean his whole world needs to crumble. And hey, he's got a real job so that's more than some of us right now. I suppose the moral of the story is that there's no such thing as a "perfect" relationship. Every relationship will have its really good parts and really bad parts. The ideal situation is not a "perfect" relationship but a relationship where both people are willing to work through their goods and bads. And if you're lucky enough to find someone who will give as much as take, then you've got a really good thing. Too bad the girl in question doesn't realize that. Oh well. More rant coming on wednesday. I got some feedback telling me that the rants are more universal than the anime parodies. So I guess at least someone out there reads them. Got questions about this strip? Post them on our BBS.
The best place to find manga making stuff including manga paper and G pen nibs (which I use to ink)
